“With our old system customers were actually dropping transactions because the storage traffic would time out,” said Mike Horwath, CTO, ipHouse. “The Zebi has given us lightning performance and has eliminated customer calls about our legacy storage I/O issues, enabling us to deliver higher-value services for our customers.”
Tegile’s Zebi storage array is a new type of storage system that balances the speed of SSD drives with the capacity and cost-effectiveness of hard disk storage. Zebi technology includes the Metadata Accelerated Storage System (MASS™), which is the only technology that manages the system’s metadata on high speed DRAM and SSDs to accelerate all storage functions, including random and sequential I/O, data de-duplication, compression, snapshots and RAID rebuilds.
“ipHouse joins our rapidly-growing base of customers who want very high storage performance in an affordable package,” said Tegile Systems’ President, Rohit Kshetrapal. “We are seeing strong interest in our Zebi system because it delivers the speed of SSD-based arrays with a cost structure closer to that of hard disk-based arrays.”
ipHouse is one of over 50 customers from the education, financial services, manufacturing, Government, legal, healthcare, hosting and transportation industry sectors that have deployed the new Zebi as primary storage in virtualised server, virtualised desktop (VDI), file services and database environments as well as for replicated storage. Zebi storage arrays are available from Tegile Systems, with prices starting at $16,000.
